Stampeders crush Blue Bombers, take sole possession of 1st in the West
The Calgary Stampeders defense smothered the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in helping the team walk away with a 36-8 win Saturday.
The Stampeders took an 8-3 lead into the half thanks to a Troy Harrison touchdown, before flexing their muscles with a 15-point third quarter to walk away with the game.
Calgary's defense was able to limit the Blue Bombers to 137 total yards, making it extremely difficult for the Bombers to get anything going.
Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell led the way for Calgary, going 19-for-26 on passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns, while Robert Marve went 12-for-20 throwing for 94 yards and two interceptions.
With the victory the Stampeders give themselves a two-point cushion on first place in the West Division. Meanwhile, the Blue Bombers fall to 3-6 on the season.
