Argonauts look to keep Roughriders winless

The Toronto Argonauts (3-2) will play their home opener at Rogers Centre on Saturday against the winless Saskatchewan Roughriders (0-6).

The Argos are coming off a 34-18 loss against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-2) at Tim Hortons Field on Monday night.

Toronto could be without a few key players on Saturday with the status of wide receiver Chad Owens, offensive lineman Jeff Keeping, and running back Anthony Coombs unknown.

The Riders were pummeled 30-5 by the offensive powerhouse Edmonton Eskimos last week to remain the only club in the CFL without a win.

Adding to Saskatchewan's woes will be the absence of veteran receiver Jamel Richardson, as he left the team Tuesday without an official explanation.

The team will also be without veteran quarterbacks Darian Durant and Kevin Glenn, who are both on the injured list. Though, QB Brett Smith showed some promise in his CFL debut against the Esks. The 23-year-old went 17-for-27 for 144 yards with the Roughriders.

These two teams met earlier this season on July 5, with the Argos taking it 42-40 in overtime. The Riders will look for revenge, and their first win of the season. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET.
