Lulay leads Lions to victory over winless Roughriders
Travis Lulay connected with rookie A.C. Leonard for two touchdowns to help edge the B.C. Lions over the Saskatchewan Roughriders 27-24 on Friday night.
The loss was Saskatchewan's fourth in a row, keeping them as the only winless team in the Canadian Football League. B.C. won their second in a row, both against Saskatchewan, improving their record to 2-1.
Saskatchewan outscored B.C. 13-7 in the fourth quarter, but their late effort wasn't rewarded. With 36 seconds remaining, the Lions ran out the clock for the win.
The Lions led 9-4 at halftime and, on their first offensive snap of the second half, Andrew Harris scored a 15-yard touchdown to give B.C. a 16-4 lead.
Leonard's second touchdown, in the fourth quarter, put the Lions ahead 27-11. Lulay found Leonard wide open on the goal line to score. His first touchdown, a 5-yard reception from Lulay, was on B.C.'s first offensive possession of the night putting the Lions ahead 7-0.
The Riders host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-2) in Week 5, and the Lions are at home against the Toronto Argonauts (2-1).
