The BC Lions staged a late combeack to force overtime and eventually earned a 35-32 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders from BC Place on Friday night.

Trailing 29-18 with just over two minutes to play in the fourth quarter, Travis Lulay quickly worked the Lions down the field before connecting with Austin Collie on a 46-yard touchdown pass to cut the Riders lead to five. Collie and Lulay then hooked up on the two-point conversion, getting BC within a field goal.

Following a quick Saskatchewan possession, the Lions got the ball back with 43 seconds remaining and Richie Leone nailed a team-record 56-yard field goal, his fifth of the night, to send the game to overtime.

After Paul McCallum put the Riders on top with a 33-yard field goal, Lulay answered with a six-yard touchdown pass to Manny Arceneaux that gave the Lions their first victory of the season.

Lulay finished 34-of-44 for 404 yards with three touchdown passes, while Collie hauled in six passes for 84 yards and the score. Weston Dressler had a big game for Saskatchewan in a losing effort, racking up a game-high 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns on nine receptions.

The Lions are now 1-1 on the young season while Saskatchewan falls to 0-3. The two squads will be at it again next Friday with the Roughriders playing host.
