Another game, another quarterback down.

Bombers starter Drew Willy was the recipient of a ruinous hit that left him motionless on the field for some time in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' home opener against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Thursday. Thankfully, he was able to walk off the field, but he didn't return to the game, and his club lost 52-26.

Willy was hit during the game's 35th play, with the score 10-7 in favor of the Ti-Cats. He stepped back a few yards, ready to pass, but was sacked by middle linebacker Taylor Reed just before his release. Defensive end Adrian Tracy made contact with the passer's helmet just before he hit the ground.

The Blue and Gold pivot was the sixth starting quarterback injured within the first two weeks of the CFL campaign, joining Jonathan Crompton, Dan LeFevour, Darian Durant, and Mike Reilly on the injured list.

It's believed the team will provide an update on Willy during the week, with the Blue Bombers playing at home next Friday against the Montreal Alouettes. Both teams will be depleted at the quarterback position.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have listed Willy as day-to-day and are uncertain as to whether he will be able to play in their next game.
