Alouettes' Crompton day-to-day, LeFevour likely out for season

The Montreal Alouettes' season got off to a rough start Thursday.

Starting quarterback Jonathan Crompton is day-to-day with a separated shoulder - and is unlikely to suit up for their next game - while backup Dan LeFevour will likely be out for the remainder of the season with a dislocated shoulder, as per TSN's Dave Naylor.

The injuries leave a void at the quarterback position, requiring the Als to sign an emergency backup for next week's game against the Calgary Stampeders.

Crompton manned the offense early against the Ottawa RedBlacks, but received a number of heavy hits and did not start the second half. He suffered a bruised shoulder on his throwing arm, and the team decided not to readmit the 27-year-old to the game for precautionary reasons. Crompton completed only 5-of-17 passes for 51 total yards on the night.

Cue second-stringer Dan LeFevour, who only made it through two plays in the second half before taking a devastating hit from defensive back Abdul Kanneh. General manager Jim Popp believes the backup quarterback's injury is more serious than Crompton's, Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette reports.

Canadian rookie quarterback Brandon Bridge came on in relief of LeFevour and amassed 62 yards on 5-of-10 passing in the 20-16 loss. The 23-year-old could start Montreal's next game if neither Crompton or LeFevour can heal in time.
