HAMILTON - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have locked up their leading receiver.

The Ticats signed Luke Tasker to a three-year contract extension Thursday that will keep him with the CFL club through the 2017 season. The five-foot-11, 191-pound native of East Aurora, N.Y., had a club-high 72 catches for 937 yards and five TDs in 17 regular-season games last year.

Tasker, the son of former NFL receiver and special-teams standout Steve Tasker, was scheduled to become a free agent Feb. 10.

"We're excited to have Luke back in Hamilton." Ticats head coach and general manager Kent Austin said in a statement. "Since signing here in 2013, he has been a productive receiver for our club and developed into one of the league's most reliable targets."

Tasker joined the Ticats on Sept. 17 2013, registering 13 catches for 202 yards and a TD. He also attended the training camp of the NFL's San Diego Chargers after playing for Austin at Cornell University.
