Report: Lions leaning towards hiring Jeff Tedford
The BC Lions may have found their next head coach.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford is currently the leading candidate to get the job, according to Sportsnet's Arash Madani.
Tedford is a former CFL quarterback who coached the University of California from 2002-2012, grooming Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers along the way.
He was hand-picked by Lovie Smith to be the Bucs' offensive coordinator before the 2014 season. Unfortunately, a heart ailment caused Tedford to take a leave of absence from the team, and he was released least week to pursue other coaching options.
Tedford played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Calgary Stampeders, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers during his six seasons in the CFL.
He coached the Stampeders under current Lions general manager Wally Buono from 1989-1991.
