CFL Game Summary - British Columbia at Montreal

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jonathan Crompton threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns as the Montreal Alouettes ran away for a 50-17 victory over the British Columbia Lions in the Eastern Division semifinals at Percival Molson Stadium.

Crompton completed 14-of-21 pass attempts and was guilty of an interception for Montreal (10-9), which will take on Hamilton in the division final next weekend. S.J. Green brought in seven passes for 95 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Rutley rushed for 98 yards and a score on 15 carries.

"The only thing that you take into the football game is that you won a playoff game," Montreal head coach Tom Higgins said of next weekend's matchup. "We're better prepared to deal with (wind conditions) and I'm thrilled that our football team has an opportunity to play next Sunday."

Kevin Glenn finished with only 64 yards as well as two interceptions on 6- of-18 passing for British Columbia (9-10). Stefan Logan racked up 94 yards on 13 carries.

A 56-yard single by Sean Whyte was the only score in the first quarter.

Crompton hooked up with Green for a 10-yard touchdown pass with 5:40 left in the second period, which was answered with a 30-yard field goal from Paul McCallum.

The Alouettes added to their lead before the break on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Crompton to Duron Carter.

In the third quarter Montreal really pulled away. First, Tanner Marsh scored on a two-yard touchdown run, which was followed by a three-yard scoring run by Rutley. Marsh scored again, this time from a yard out, before the period finished.

"The third quarter was disastrous," British Columbia coach Mike Benevides said.

Chris Rainey escaped for a 64-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to push the Alouettes to a 43-3 advantage.

Montreal's defense got in on the scoring action as well, as Jerald Brown returned a fumble 103 yards for a touchdown.

Backup quarterback Travis Partridge threw a pair of touchdown passes in the final minutes of the contest for the Lions, but it was not nearly enough
