TORONTO - B.C. Lions wide receiver Ernest Jackson was named CFL offensive player of the month Wednesday after helping his team secure a playoff berth for the 18th straight season.

Jackson averaged an impressive 21.9 yards per reception over three games last month. He had 20 catches for 438 yards and two touchdowns over the stretch for the 9-7 Lions.

His standout performance came in a Week 16 home game against the Ottawa Redblacks. Jackson had eight receptions for a career-high 195 yards — including a 60-yard touchdown catch — in the Lions' 41-3 blowout win.

Montreal linebacker Bear Woods picked up the defensive player honour for the second straight month. He had 24 tackles, three sacks, an interception and forced a fumble over three games.

Edmonton kick returner Kendial Lawrence was named special teams player of the month and Redblacks defensive back Antoine Pruneau was named top Canadian.

Lawrence compiled 423 combined return yards and scored two touchdowns over three games in October. Pruneau, a Montreal native, had 22 tackles, a sack and a special-teams tackle over four games.
