CFL Game Summary - Ottawa at Hamilton

Hamilton, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Quarterback Zach Collaros connected on a seven-yard touchdown pass to receiver Bakari Grant to start the fourth quarter, and the Hamilton Tigers-Cats were able to coast through the final period en route to a 16-6 win over the Ottawa RedBlacks at Tim Hortons Field in an East Division battle Friday.

Kicker Justin Medlock booted through two field goals and added three singles in the win for Hamilton (7-8), which is a perfect 5-0 since moving into the new confines of Tim Hortons Field. Medlock did miss a late-game field goal try, ending his streak of 12 consecutive makes.

Collaros completed 17-of-31 passing in the game for 171 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Grant caught a team-high six passes for 81 yards and the crucial fourth-quarter score.

Brett Maher had a 27-yard field goal and a second-quarter single for Ottawa (2-13), which has lost all eight road games this season. The RedBlacks were given a safety early in the third quarter when Medlock was too deep in his own end zone to punt. He stepped out of bounds on his own volition.

Quarterback Henry Burris completed 14-of-27 passing for 160 yards for Ottawa. Marcus Henry led the team in receiving with four receptions for 62 yards.

Hamilton led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter thanks to a 21-yard field goal and a 61-yard single by Medlock.

Ottawa got on the board just under five minutes into the second quarter when Maher's 57-yard single cut the lead to 4-1. As time expired in the first half, Medlock connected on a 26-yard field goal to push Hamilton's lead to 7-1.

Medlock and the Tiger-Cats took the safety early in the third quarter to cut their own lead to four points, and later the RedBlacks sliced the Hamilton lead to one point when Maher connected on a 27-yard field goal.

Terrell Sinkfield pulled off a 43-yard run on the last play of the third quarter that got the Tiger-Cats into the red zone, and as the fourth quarter opened, Collaros hit Grant for the game's only major to take a 14-6 lead.

Two more Hamilton singles rounded out the scoring in the final frame, and the Tiger-Cats were able to control the run game, and therefore the clock, as the remaining minutes wound down.

"We didn't get it done last week, but tonight we were able to run the ball and run the clock out," Hamilton coach Kent Austin said following the win.

The Tiger-Cats take a brief lead in the East Division standings, with Toronto and Montreal (both 6-8 with 12 points) set to clash on Saturday.
