CFL Game Summary - Hamilton at Winnipeg
Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Zach Collaros threw for 182 yards and Justin Medlock connected on 3-of-4 field goal attempts as the Hamilton Tiger- Cats held on for a 16-11 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Investors Group Field.
Luke Tasker led Hamilton (5-7) with 70 yards on seven receptions. Mossis Madu rushed for 49 yards and scored the Tiger-Cats' only touchdown in the contest.
Drew Willy completed 27-of-40 pass attempts for 303 yards and a touchdown for Winnipeg (6-7). Aaron Kelly recorded game-highs in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (94).
A 43-yard field goal from Medlock gave Hamilton a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter.
Collaros was pulled down in the end zone by Bryant Turner early in the second quarter for a Winnipeg safety.
A 22-yard touchdown run by Madu helped the Tiger-Cats extend their edge to 10-2.
The Bombers kept themselves within striking distance with a 20-yard field goal from Lirim Hajrullahu.
Hamilton led 13-5 after a 37-yard field goal from Medlock early in the third quarter.
Medlock gave the Tiger-Cats some more breathing room early in the fourth quarter when he drilled a 39-yard field goal.
Winnipeg was able to cut into the deficit late in the fourth quarter when Cory Watson brought in a six-yard touchdown pass from Willy. The ensuing two-point conversion attempt failed, however, leaving the Bombers in a 16-11 hole.
They would get another chance with the ball, taking over with 2:14 to play from their own 23-yard line. Willy led his squad all the way to the Hamilton 3-yard line, but the drive stalled there, allowing Hamilton to take back possession and run out the clock.
