Welcome to the third installment of "The 140," theScore's new CFL Power Rankings, where we break down each team in 140 characters or fewer. Because that's all the time you've got.

1. Calgary Stampeders

W-L Home Away Point differential
8-1 4-1 4-0 117

Jon Cornish is at full speed, and a big win over Edmonton on Labour Day established Calgary as the class of a competitive West Division.

Key injuries: SB Brad Sinopoli (upper body), DL DeQuin Evans (knee)
Next game: at Edmonton Eskimos, Saturday

2. Saskatchewan Roughriders

W-L Home Away Point differential
7-2 4-1 3-1 47

Six straight wins have Saskatchewan in the West Division hunt. Five of its final nine games are against either Calgary or Edmonton.

Key injuries: K Josh Bartel (hamstring), DB Mark LeGree (hamstring)
Next game: at Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Sunday

3. Edmonton Eskimos

W-L Home Away Point differential
7-2 3-1 4-1 57

Losing to the Stampeders was a setback for the defence, but Edmonton will remain competitive as long as Mike Reilly is healthy under centre.

Key injuries: K Grant Shaw (undisclosed), SB Fred Stamps (lower body), QB Mike Reilly (hand)
Next game: vs. Calgary Stampeders, Saturday

4. BC Lions

W-L Home Away Point differential
5-4 2-3 3-1 30

Lions have the best pass defence in the league (202 yards allowed per game) and Travis Lulay is back at quarterback following the bye week.

Key injuries: LB Solomon Elimimian (hamstring)
Next game: at Ottawa Redblacks, Friday

5. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

W-L Home Away Point differential
6-4 3-2 3-2 8

Three losses in four games leaves plenty of reasons for concern in Winnipeg. Defence is allowing a division-worst 118 rushing yards per game.

Key injuries: LB Ian Wild (shoulder/neck), SB Nick Moore (ankle)
Next game: vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders, Sunday

6. Hamilton Tiger-Cats

W-L Home Away Point differential
2-6 2-2 0-4 -35

Hamilton opened its new stadium with an important victory over Toronto. A healthy Zach Collaros makes it the team to beat in the East.

Key injuries: QB Dan LeFevour (ACL), RB C.J. Gable (foot)
Next game: at Montreal Alouettes, Sunday

7. Toronto Argonauts

W-L Home Away Point differential
3-7 2-2 1-5 -27

Three straight losses mean Toronto's spot atop the East is in jeopardy. The bye week is much-needed for a wounded receiving corps.

Key injuries: SB Chad Owens (knee), SB Andre Durie (shoulder)
Next game: at Calgary Stampeders, Sept. 13

8. Montreal Alouettes

W-L Home Away Point differential
2-7 2-3 0-4 -82

Montreal snapped a six-game skid by downing the lowly Redblacks. It appears Jonathan Crompton is the answer at quarterback - for now.

Key injuries: CB Geoff Tisdale (ankle), QB Troy Smith (undisclosed)
Next game: vs. Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Sunday

9. Ottawa Redblacks

W-L Home Away Point differential
1-8 1-3 0-5 -115

The other East teams are beginning to pull away from Ottawa, which has one touchdown on offence in the last three games of a six-game skid.

Key injuries: QB Thomas DeMarco (knee), LB Anton McKenzie (undisclosed), WR Kierrie Johnson (arm)
Next game: vs. BC Lions, Friday
