Veteran DB Kornegay to sign one-day deal and retire as a Roughrider

REGINA - Defensive back Tad Kornegay, who helped the Saskatchewan Roughriders win the 2007 Grey Cup title, will retire as a member of the team.

The Roughriders announced Tuesday that Kornegay has signed a one-day contract so he can end his career with the team he spent the bulk of his eight-year CFL career with.

Kornegay played five consecutive seasons (2007-2011) with the Roughriders after being acquired by the team in June, 2007. He spent his first two CFL seasons with Hamilton and also played for B.C. in 2011 and Calgary in 2012.

Kornegay had 174 defensive tackles, 20 special teams tackles, four interceptions and two quarterback sacks in 61 regular season games with Saskatchewan. He was a member of the 2007 Championship team and played in the 2009 and 2010 Grey Cup finals with the Riders.

For his career, Kornegay played 116 regular season games, six playoff games and four Grey Cup games.
