Fred Thornhill / Reuters

Welcome to the second installment of "The 140," theScore's new CFL Power Rankings, where we break down each team in 140 characters or fewer. Because that's all the time you've got.

1. Calgary Stampeders

W-L Home Away Point differential
7-1 3-1 4-0 102

Cornish is back and Calgary has won 3 straight. Stamps lead the CFL in TDs on offence (21) while allowing a league-low 15.1 points per game.

Key injuries: WR Jeff Fuller (shoulder)
Next game: vs. Edmonton Eskimos, Sept. 1

2. Edmonton Eskimos

W-L Home Away Point differential
7-1 3-1 4-0 72

Edmonton's defence leads the league with 13 interceptions and 29 sacks. It's enough to give the Esks hope without starting QB Mike Reilly.

Key injuries: QB Mike Reilly (hand), RB John White (hand), SB Fred Stamps (undisclosed)
Next game: at Calgary Stampeders, Sept. 1

3. Saskatchewan Roughriders

W-L Home Away Point differential
6-2 3-1 3-1 42

A sixth straight win might prove elusive without Darian Durant, but the Roughriders lead the CFL in average rushing yards (143.9).

Key injuries: QB Darian Durant (hand), LB Weldon Brown (undisclosed)
Next game: vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Aug. 31

4. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

W-L Home Away Point differential
6-3 3-2 3-1 13

Maurice Leggett caught 3 interceptions in Week 9 and leads the league with 5, while league-leading rusher Nic Grigsby scored the winning TD.

Key injuries: DE Jason Vega (turf toe), LB Ejiro Kuale (back)
Next game: at Saskatchewan Roughriders, Aug. 31

5. BC Lions

W-L Home Away Point differential
5-4 2-3 3-1 30

Allowing 228 rushing yards vs. Saskatchewan in Week 9 was concerning, but potentially losing star linebacker Solomon Elimimian is worse.

Key injuries: LB Solomon Elimimian (undisclosed)
Next game: at Ottawa Redblacks, Sept. 5

6. Toronto Argonauts

W-L Home Away Point differential
3-6 2-2 1-4 -26

Owens returned for 3 quarters before suffering a new injury. Ray threw 3 interceptions in Week 9 and needs better offensive-line protection.

Key injuries: SB Chad Owens (knee), WR John Chiles (hamstring), SB Andre Durie (clavicle)
Next game: at Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Sept. 1

7. Hamilton Tiger-Cats

W-L Home Away Point differential
1-6 1-2 0-4 -36

The biggest question during Hamilton's bye week was who will play QB. The second-biggest question was whether they will have a home stadium.

Key injuries: QB Dan LeFevour (torn ACL), QB Zach Collaros (head, back), RB C.J. Gable (foot)
Next game: vs. Toronto Argonauts, Sept. 1

8. Montreal Alouettes

W-L Home Away Point differential
1-7 1-3 0-4 -92

Jonathan Crompton is the latest QB to see snaps for the struggling Als. Montreal needs a catalyst on offence to snap its 6-game losing skid.

Key injuries: QB Troy Smith (undisclosed), WR Chad Johnson (concussion), DT Scott Paxson (undisclosed)
Next game: vs. Ottawa Redblacks, Aug. 29

9. Ottawa Redblacks

W-L Home Away Point differential
1-7 1-3 0-4 -105

With 15 points in two games, nothing is going right for the Redblacks aside from rookie Antoine Pruneau, who has 24 tackles in three games.

Key injuries: QB Thomas DeMarco (undisclosed)
Next game: at Montreal Alouettes, Aug. 29
