The Toronto Argonauts released Canadian defensive lineman Ricky Foley via text message on Friday, the player tweeted.

Foley, who took a pay cut following the 2015 season, did not wish to restructure his contract, sources told Justin Dunk of 3-Down Nation.

The 34-year-old played 32 games over the last two seasons with Toronto, recording 69 tackles, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles. It was his second stint with the Argos after helping them win a Grey Cup in 2012.

Foley began his career with the BC Lions in 2006, where he won a Grey Cup his rookie season and was named Most Outstanding Canadian in 2009.

After playing in Toronto from 2010-12, Foley signed with Saskatchewan, promptly winning a Grey Cup in 2013 before being traded back to Toronto in 2015.
