The Edmonton Eskimos wanted to make sure Brandyn Thompson wasn't going to be the one that got away this offseason.
The veteran of three NFL seasons was able to come to an agreement with the Eskimos on a two-year contract extension on Monday, the team announced Monday. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Thompson broke into the league with the Ottawa RedBlacks in 2014 and recorded 97 tackles and seven interceptions over two seasons in the nation's capital.
After signing with the Eskimos on Aug. 8, Thompson made eight starts in the regular season, recording 22 tackles and one interception.
