Alouettes sign Durant to 3-year deal

The Montreal Alouettes have inked recently-acquired quarterback Darian Durant to a three-year contract, the club announced Thursday.

The deal comes days after Durant was traded to Montreal by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for a pair of draft picks.

"We are extremely happy to have reached an agreement with Darian and we are looking forward to see him lead our offence out on the field," Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed said. "The negotiations came to this rapid conclusion because both parties were anxious to get a deal done and start working together to bring a championship to the city of Montreal."

Durant, 34, threw for 3,839 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2016. The two-time All-Star sits second on the Roughriders' all-time passing list.

Durant helped Saskatchewan capture two Grey Cups, and was the starter on the 2013 team.
