The Montreal Alouettes unveiled Kavis Reed and Jacques Chapdelaine as their new permanent general manager and head coach, respectively, on Wednesday.

The pair of moves were announced a day after they were rumoured to be on the horizon, following the team's declaration of a "major" press conference set for Wednesday afternoon.

As part of the team's leadership makeover, the Als also named Patrick Brown their new president and CEO.

Reed, who spent the previous two seasons serving as Montreal's special teams coordinator, has never held a front office job until now. He has a wealth of experience as a player and coach, however, and was head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos as recently as 2013.

Chapdelaine, meanwhile, served as the Alouettes' interim coach for six games this season after Jim Popp stepped down. The Als went 4-2 under his watch. Chapdelaine won three Grey Cups as a player - one with the Calgary Stampeders and two with the BC Lions.

The Alouettes are coming off a 7-11 season that saw them miss the playoffs for a second straight year.
