The Toronto Argonauts have signed star pass-rusher Shawn Lemon to a two-year contract extension through the 2018 season, the club announced Thursday.
Lemon is fresh off a standout season in which he recorded a career-high 14 sacks - good for second-most in the CFL. It was the highest single-season sack total for an Argos player since 2003.
An East Division All-Star in 2016, Lemon came to Toronto last summer as part of a trade with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was sent with a conditional 2018 draft pick for offensive lineman Matt Sewell and quarterback Mitchell Gale.
Along with the sacks, the 28-year-old Akron product notched 23 tackles, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery this season.
