It's here.

Five months after nine teams set out to claim CFL supremacy, the Calgary Stampeders and Ottawa RedBlacks remain standing as the final two contenders for the 104th Grey Cup.

Calgary's spot in the game comes as no surprise. The Stamps owned the CFL's best regular-season record at 15-2-1, and were led by the eventual MOP in quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell.

In addition to the prolific passing attack, Dave Dickenson's club had the league's leading rusher in veteran Jerome Messam. The 31-year-old was one of several Stampeders to sit near or atop the leaderboard in a major statistical category.

For Ottawa, the road to the Grey Cup has been less smooth. The RedBlacks went through multiple quarterback changes this season, as Henry Burris struggled to overcome injuries and poor play early in the season, which forced Trevor Harris into the lineup.

Harris, signed last offseason as a free agent, was good for a while, but Ottawa eventually went back to Burris as the offense began sputtering with Harris.

Unlike the Stamps, few RedBlacks can be seen around the top of the CFL stats page. It shows in their record, as the sixth-year franchise played to an 8-9-1 clip this year, before ultimately emerging as the top team in a subpar East Division.

One shouldn't underestimate the chip Rick Campbell's club is carrying on its shoulder, though. The RedBlacks reached the Grey Cup last year, but lost to the Edmonton Eskimos, and that result seems to be fueling this year's run.

It remains to be seen if the chip is large enough to take down the class of the West, and perhaps the class of the CFL.

We'll find out one way or another Sunday, as the two teams square off in Toronto with the Grey Cup on the line.

Let's play some football.
