Mitchell plans to 'outperform' Jennings in Western final

Bo Levi Mitchell isn't taking the BC Lions or quarterback Jonathon Jennings lightly.

The Calgary Stampeders signal caller led his team to a record of 15-2-1 in the regular season while placing himself in the conversation for CFL Most Valuable Player in the process. There are now only four teams left vying for the 2016 Grey Cup, and Mitchell isn't about to overlook the pivot opposing him on Sunday.

"Jennings is playing well," Mitchell told Scott Fisher of The Calgary Herald. "But there's not many quarterbacks in the league that I don't see as a marquee matchup.

"But Jennings has proved who he is. He's a guy who can make plays and he did a hell of a job this entire season."

Stampeders head coach and CFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dave Dickenson seconded Mitchell's sentiments, stating he sees dynamic elements in Jennings' game, but asserts that his quarterback is still the measuring stick when it comes to elite quarterbacks in the league.

"Bo, to me, his standard and his winning percentage being what they are, people are going to compare the next up-and-comer to him. It's a good matchup."

As far as Sunday's game goes, Mitchell will have plenty of motivation when he takes the field against Jennings and the Lions on Sunday.

"The cliche is that it's never me against him, but I'll be going out there to outperform him," Mitchell said.
