Eskimos sign QB Thomas DeMarco, eligible for East final
The Edmonton Eskimos added a piece for the East final this weekend, as the club signed quarterback Thomas DeMarco on Wednesday.
DeMarco spent time with the team earlier this season, and has also appeared with the BC Lions and Ottawa RedBlacks after being selected in the 2013 Expansion Draft.
The California native has thrown for 1,559 yards with 11 touchdowns while also adding 148 yards and three scores on the ground in his career.
The move is likely an insurance policy in case starting quarterback Mike Reilly is unable to play on Sunday. The standout pivot left the East semifinal midway through the third quarter and did not return. James Franklin took over in his place and played the rest of the contest.
Whether Reilly is healthy for the weekend or not, having a veteran presence like DeMarco available to play is a bonus for the Eskimos.
