Vernon Adams to make 1st career start vs. Roughriders

Vernon Adams Jr. will make his first career CFL start Saturday when the Montreal Alouettes take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina, the team announced.
Adams takes over for Rakeem Cato, who's started for the Alouettes over the past month.
Montreal acquired Adams before the season in a trade with the BC Lions that cost the Alouettes a first-round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft.
Adams relieved the struggling Cato last week, and completed 4-of-9 passes for 35 yards. His promotion comes at the same time Montreal released star receiver Duron Carter, whose feud with Cato became an off-field distraction for the club.
The 4-11 Alouettes have dropped six of their last seven decisions.
