Alouettes release Duron Carter, Kenny Stafford

The Montreal Alouettes released receivers Duron Carter and Kenny Stafford Monday, Carter confirmed to Gary Lawless of TSN.

Both Carter and Stafford took to social media, thanking the city and fans for their support during their time with the organization.

Carter was leading the Alouettes in both receiving yards and touchdown receptions at the time of his release. His 938 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions rank 11th and fifth in the CFL this season.

The three-year veteran first joined the Alouettes in 2013 and became a CFL All-Star in 2014. Carter then spent 2015 as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, before rejoining Montreal for this season.

Stafford had 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns in nine games with the Alouettes. He played with Montreal in 2014 before joining the Edmonton Eskimos in 2015 and winning a Grey Cup. He then returned to Montreal as a free agent in February.

Montreal holds the CFL's worst record at 4-11.
