Alouettes try to keep playoff hopes alive vs. Tiger-Cats

The Montreal Alouettes are going to have to find away to coexist Friday night against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats if they hope to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Quarterback Rakeem Cato got into a heated exchange Tuesday with receivers Duron Carter and Kenny Stafford, so it remains to be seen how the offensive unit will perform after the incident.

Montreal sits at 3-8 on the campaign, two games back of Hamilton and the Toronto Argonauts for third place in the East. A loss Friday and it could be a hole too big for Jim Popp's crew to dig out of.

The offense is firmly in Cato's hands now, as the Als shipped pivot Kevin Glenn to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last weekend. Cato will be tasked with ending Montreal's three-game slide, despite only throwing 60 passes this season.

Meanwhile, the Tiger-Cats look to regroup after a disappointing loss against Toronto on Sunday. The Argos frustrated quarterback Zach Collaros for much of the day, holding him to his lowest passing yardage total of the season and forcing a pair of interceptions.

Collaros will be meeting the Als for the first time this season since returning from injury, but they had his number in 2015. Montreal limited the signal caller to only two touchdowns and four interceptions in two games a year ago.

Hamilton claimed the first meeting between the two sides this year 31-7.
