Blue Bombers look to continue winning ways against struggling Roughriders
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers find themselves in an unfamiliar position, poised to earn a playoff berth.
Four straight wins have them sitting third in the Western Division, with an excellent shot to make the postseason for the first time since 2011. Head coach Mike O'Shea's decision to turn to Matt Nichols at quarterback appears to be brilliant, as the signal caller has guided the Blue Bombers to those four aforementioned wins.
Since taking over for Drew Willy, Nichols has sparked the offense with five touchdowns to only one interception. The rest of the Bombers' cast is also chipping in, as kicker Justin Medlock has made 20 straight field goals.
The Bombers figure to be in good shape to continue their run with a date versus the lowly Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday. Chris Jones and company have dropped five straight and sit at 1-8 on the campaign.
During that stretch, Saskatchewan has been outscored 181-60, as the offense has struggled mightily to put together any sort of consistency.
This will be the final game for the Blue Bombers at Mosaic Stadium, as the Roughriders will move into a new facility for the 2017 season.
