The CFL has upheld receiver Duron Carter's one-game suspension Monday, meaning he'll miss the Montreal Alouettes' game against the Ottawa Redblacks on Thursday.

Carter was suspended July 4 for bumping RedBlacks coach Rick Campbell to the ground during an altercation. The incident sparked a melee on the Ottawa sideline, after Carter walked through the opposition's bench to celebrate his touchdown.

The star wideout immediately appealed the decision, and the league set an arbitration hearing on Aug. 17 to make the ruling. While Montreal will certainly be at a loss without Carter, his absence in the return affair with Ottawa will likely diffuse what could be a hostile situation.

Carter leads Montreal with 717 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
