Eskimos ride 2-game win streak as Riders look for 1st road victory

The 2016 season has been a rough ride for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Chris Jones' club is desperately seeking its first road win in 2016, but will need to go through the CFL's leading passer in Week 10 to get it done. The Edmonton Eskimos have arguably played much better than their 4-4 record may imply, and look to add one more to the win column against the last place Roughriders.

Eskimos pivot Mike Reilly has enjoyed a strong season, leading the league with 2,843 passing yards and tied for first with Bo Levi Mitchell of the Calgary Stampeders with 14 touchdown passes.

The Roughriders have allowed a league-worst 286 points while garnering just 11 sacks and a measly two interceptions through eight games. Reilly will look for favourite targets Adarius Bowman and Derel Walker to continue the team's offensive momentum.

Both clubs' running games don't offer a vast difference, with the Eskimos netting 583 total running yards to the Roughriders 511. The Eskimos have been able to find the end zone on the ground seven times while the Roughriders only have one rushing touchdown.

Saskatchewan has also turned the ball over a league-worst 22 times while Edmonton is tied with the BC Lions for the CFL's second lowest with 15 turnovers.

The odds aren't completely against the Roughriders, however, as veteran pivot Darian Durant has proven his resiliency and ability to perform at a high level on numerous occasions. Durant has thrown just four interceptions in six games this season, and will need to keep the ball out of the hands of the Eskimos secondary in order to guide his team to victory.

Wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt has been the lone bright spot on the Roughriders' receiving corps, recording 702 yards on 51 receptions with a touchdown. Strong games from Ricky Collins and Rob Bagg will increase the Roughriders' chances of finally capturing that elusive first road victory of 2016.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CT from Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.
