The CFL announced Sunday prior to the Ottawa RedBlacks-Toronto Argonauts game that the 2017 Grey Cup will be coming to the nation's capital.

“We’re bringing Canada’s cup to Canada’s capital in the year we all celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday,” said Jeffrey L. Orridge, commissioner of the Canadian Football League.

The 105th edition will be played November 26th, 2017 at TD Place Stadium at Lansdowne Park and will mark the first time Ottawa has hosted the final since 2004, when the Toronto Argonauts defeated the BC Lions 27-19.

“We are thrilled to host the 2017 Grey Cup and cap off a year of Canada 150 celebrations in the nation’s capital,” said Jeff Hunt, president of OSEG, the Ottawa RedBlacks’ parent company. He added, “I’d like to thank the CFL Board of Governors and commissioner Orridge for giving us this amazing opportunity and I promise CFL fans across the country that we’ll put on a great show and welcome them to Ottawa with open arms.”

It was a big day for the organization as the club also honoured the 1976 Ottawa Rough Riders prior to Sunday's game, ironically the last time a team from Ottawa captured the championship.
