Collaros 'getting close' to return but won't play vs. Bombers

Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Zach Collaros will not play Wednesday versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as he continues to work his way back from a torn ACL, head coach Kent Austin told TSN's Matthew Scianitti on Saturday.

The Ti-Cats were previously targeting the Aug. 3 game for a Collaros return, but instead it'll be Jeremiah Masoli in the shotgun when Hamilton travels to play the 2-4 Bombers.

The good news, however, is that Austin noted his star pivot is "getting close" to a return, which bodes well for his chance to suit up Aug. 13 against the BC Lions.

Collaros has spent the entire season up to this point on the six-game injured list. His replacement, Masoli, has thrown for 1,532 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions through Hamilton's first five games of the campaign, leading the Ti-Cats to a 3-2 record.
