Alouettes look for 1st home victory of 2016 against invading Roughriders

The Montreal Alouettes will need another strong showing from Kevin Glenn in their Week 6 matchup against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, while the starting quarterback for the Riders appears to be a game-time decision.

Mitchell Gale was strong in his first CFL start last week in a 30-29 victory over the Ottawa RedBlacks in place of an injured Darian Durant. Gale was 21-for-36 for 354 yards and one touchdown in the winning effort, and Durant's status for Week 6 remains questionable.

Despite a loss to the Toronto Argonauts last week by a score of 30-17, Glenn played well, going 24-for-28 for 285 yards with one touchdown and one interception. With an offence that has been lacking so far in 2016, both Glenn and the Alouettes' receiving core must be in sync to overcome the Roughriders.

The one area that Montreal has produced a much higher average than Saskatchewan thus far this season has been the running game. While Roughriders running back Curtis Steele has averaged almost a full yard more than Alouettes running back Tyrell Sutton so far this season, Montreal owns the higher team average per game - averaging 75.8 yards per game to 56.5 yards for Saskatchewan.

Montreal's defensive leaders such as Bear Woods, Chip Cox, John Bowman, and Jovon Johnson have performed well in 2016, ranking among the league leaders in defensive tackles, sacks, and forced fumbles. For a team that has only managed to score 59 points in four games, the Alouettes have allowed the least amount of points in the East Division, albeit with one less game played than each of their divisional rivals.

Saskatchewan is seeking its first win on the road this season, while Montreal is seeking its first home win of 2016. The Alouettes will honour longtime receiver Ben Cahoon before the game, and will give away 20,000 free Ben Cahoon masks in celebration.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET from Pervical Molson Memorial Stadium.
