Ricky Ray left early with a left knee injury Monday, which made the Toronto Argonauts 30-17 victory over the Montreal Alouettes - their first win at BMO Field - something of an afterthought.

Ray was 29-for-34 for 235 yards and three touchdowns before leaving with a left knee injury after a hit by Alouettes defensive tackle Vaughn Martin with 11 minutes left. The 36-year-old quarterback was smiling on the sideline with ice packs on his left knee, but the injury means both Toronto (3-2) and the Ottawa RedBlacks (3-1-1) have quarterback concerns going into their first-place East Division showdown Sunday at TD Place.

Several individual firsts factored into the Argonauts' inaugural win in their new digs. Receivers Kenny Shaw and Devon Wylie each scored their first CFL touchdowns, while backup quarterback Cody Fajardo completed his first touchdown pass during a 21-point second-quarter outburst that put the fragile Alouettes (1-3) into a big hole.

The Alouettes - who had a tense week after veteran slotback Nik Lewis called out the organization following an embarrassing July 22 home loss against Hamilton - had the chance to take the lead midway through the third quarter.

Duron Carter scored a 61-yard pass-and-run touchdown, after which Martin got the Alouettes the ball back almost immediately thanks to a fumble recovery in Argonauts territory. However, on second and goal from the six-yard line, Toronto defensive back T.J. Heath cut behind Carter and flipped the field with a 55-yard interception return.

Buoyed by the bailout, the Argonauts scored the next nine points to re-open a two-touchdown lead.

Shaw, a former Florida State Seminole, led the Argonauts with nine receptions for 86 yards and also added a two-point convert. Wylie, formerly of the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans, added five receptions for 55 yards in his CFL debut. Toronto's Phil Bates and Anthony Coombs also had touchdown receptions, the latter on a pass from Galardo.

Lirim Hajrullahu was 0-for-2 on field goals with a single.

Apart from Carter, who was dynamic with six receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown, the Alouettes' offence was sporadic. Glenn was 24-for-28 for 285 yards.

Brandon Rutley also scored on a one-yard rush. Alouettes kicker Boris Bede continued to struggle, going 0-for-3 with three singles. Bede is just 5-for-12 this season.

The Argonauts scored on three consecutive drives in the second quarter, including when Shaw beat rookie safety Dominique Termansen for a 17-yard touchdown reception with 12:13 left before the half. Termansen was substituting for veteran safety Marc-Olivier Brouillette, who left the game after a collision with Argonauts wide receiver Vidal Hazelton.

Toronto went ahead to stay, 14-9, after Ray directed a 75-yard drive that was capped by Galardo's scoring pass to Coombs.

Ray ran a perfect two-minute drill - aided by an illegal contact penalty on Montreal's Billy Parker that wiped out an interception - to give the Argonauts a 21-9 halftime lead. Wylie capped the march with a five-yard touchdown catch.

Montreal has little time to fix their mistakes, since they visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-3) on Friday.
