Montreal Alouettes wide receiver Duron Carter has been suspended one game by the CFL for his role in a Week 2 incident that saw him knock over Ottawa RedBlacks coach Rick Campbell.

The league has also fined Campbell for his role in the altercation, claiming the coach could have made a better effort to avoid contact with Carter.

The incident, which resulted in Carter's ejection from the contest, took place after the 25-year-old took a shot to the head area while making a catch in the end zone for a Montreal touchdown. Carter immediately got back to his feet and made his way to the Ottawa sideline, where he bumped into Campbell and walked through the entire bench area, taking several shoves and a punch from the opposition along the way.

RedBlacks safety Jermaine Robinson, who delivered the illegal hit to the head, was also fined. His teammate, Jerrell Gavins, who threw the punch at Carter on the sideline, was fined as well.

Carter's suspension means the 25-year-old won't play against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 4. Montreal, currently 1-1, is on a bye in Week 3.

Following the incident, the Alouettes announced they were fining Carter an undisclosed amount for his actions.
