Toronto Argonauts defensive back Jermaine Gabriel was taken to hospital Thursday night after leaving the season opener with an apparent neck injury, according to TSN's Matthew Scianitti.

Gabriel was stretchered off the field following a blow to the head in the fourth quarter. He was moving his arms and legs as he was taken away.

The Argos lost the game 42-20.

Gabriel signed an extension with Toronto in the offseason.
