The Hamilton Tiger-Cats dominated on all sides of the ball Friday night as they kept the Ottawa RedBlacks from having a perfect 2016 preseason by earning a 42-25 victory

Despite recording more passing yards than the Ticats (305 yards as opposed to just 184 yards), the RedBlacks' pivots failed to find the end zone. Brock Jensen went 13-of-21 for 146 yards, but was intercepted twice, and Danny O'Brien went an almost-perfect 18-of-21 for 159 yards, but was also intercepted once.

Jeremiah Masoli took the majority of snaps under centre for the Ticats, going 9-of-15 for 136 yards for the game's only passing touchdown, a 15-yard strike to Chad Owens with 1:40 left in the first quarter.

Ross Scheuerman ended the preseason with a bang, as he eclipsed the century mark on the ground, recording 105 rushing yards on 13 carries and one rushing touchdown. CJ Gable and Quinton Pointer also recorded rushing touchdowns on the night for the Ticats, with Pointer's coming on a 52-yard run as a result of a fake punt.

Travis Greene led the RedBlacks on the ground in the losing effort, rushing for 96 yards on 13 carries with a rushing touchdown. Danny O'Brien also scampered in for a 13-yard score.

The Ticats' most coveted offseason acquisition put on a show Friday, as Chad Owens was only two yards away from 100 on the night, hauling in five passes for 98 yards and one touchdown reception. The RedBlacks spread the ball around throughout the game, with Alex Pierzchalski and Khalil Paden leading the receiving corps with 9 receptions for 74 yards and five receptions for 49 yards respectively.

Jay Langa stood out on the defensive side of the ball for the Ticats, recording two interceptions on the night. Derico Murray provided the third interception of the night for the Ticats defense.

The boots were on display for both teams on the evening, as RedBlacks kicker Christopher Milo was a perfect 3-for-3 and Ticats kicker Brett Maher was 2-of-3, with his lone miss barely missing from an astonishing distance of 62 yards.

The Tiger-Cats travel down the QEW to BMO Field to take on the Toronto Argonauts on Jun. 23, while the RedBlacks travel to Commonwealth Stadium to do battle with the Edmonton Eskimos on Jun. 25.
