Leaving the confines of Rogers Centre doesn't seem to have a negative impact on the Toronto Argonauts.

In the first CFL game ever played at BMO Field, the Argonauts defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday 25-16. The win marks the opening to the 2016 preseason for both clubs.

The Argos opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 17-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Logan Kilgore to wide receiver Vidal Hazelton. The only other passing touchdown for the Argos came with just 3:20 left in the fourth quarter when Mitchell Gale, in his second stint with the Boatmen, connected with Wallace Miles for a 5-yard score.

Kilgore would finish the game as the Argos' leading passer, going 8-for-13 for 107 yards with the first-quarter touchdown pass being his only score on the day. Gale finished a perfect 6-for-6 for 75 yards and one touchdown pass on the day.

Cody Fajardo was a dual threat for the Argos, going 10-for-16 for 73 yards while adding 33 yards on five carries on the ground. Argos leader Ricky Ray started the game and took minimal snaps, going 1-for-3 for only six yards.

The Tiger-Cats overcame a 10-point deficit in the second quarter to take the lead until the Argos delivered the knockout blow in the fourth. Jeff Mathews led the way at quarterback for the Ticats, going 8-for-14 for 176 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Tiquan Underwood and Matt Coates led the Ticats' receiving crew, hauling in four catches for 82 yards and two catches for 64 yards, respectively. Underwood was on the receiving end of the only touchdown pass of the day for the Ticats.

Both teams will play their second preseason game on June 17. The Argonauts travel to Montreal to take on the Alouettes, while the Tiger-Cats welcome the Ottawa RedBlacks to Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.
