Blue Bombers extend Palardy, bring back Sears
Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers extended the contract of kicker Justin Palardy and re-signed defensive back Johnny Sears on Thursday.
Per club policy, no terms were disclosed.
The 24-year-old kicker and native of Nova Scotia made 39-of-45 field goals and converted all 31 point-after-touchdown tries for 154 points. In three CFL seasons with the Ticats and Bombers, he has connected on all 90 extra points and 105-of-127 field goals for 424 total points.
"Winnipeg has been great to me since I arrived and I'm excited to get this extension completed. It isn't often a player gets an opportunity to be a part of the opening a new stadium and I'm really excited for 2013 and beyond with the Bombers," said Palardy.
Sears started in 14 of his 15 appearances in 2012, completing the year with 50 tackles and three interceptions. The 25-year-old California native was slated to become a free agent on Feb. 15.
