Eskimos part ways with GM Tillman
Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Eskimos have relieved Eric Tillman of his duties as general manager.
Tillman led Edmonton to back-to-back playoff appearances since taking over in 2010.
The timing is surprising considering the Eskimos (7-11) have qualified for the playoffs this year. Edmonton finished its regular season Friday with a third straight loss, and will face the Toronto Argonauts in the East Division semifinal on Nov. 11.
"I have spent considerable time looking at the future direction of this club and did not see Eric as a part of this team moving forward," Eskimos president and CEO Len Rhodes said. "We will begin our search for a new general manager immediately and hope to have a successor in place by the end of the calendar year."
Tillman has four Grey Cup appearances with three wins in his 12 years as general manager with Edmonton, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Toronto and Ottawa.
