Argos' Owens, Carroll among CFL's best
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto Argonauts slotback Chad Owens and defensive back Ahmad Carroll were among the CFL's top players for Week 10 of the 2012 season.
Owens captured the offensive award after becoming only the third player in league history to surpass 400 all-purpose yards. He totaled 402 in a 33-30 win over Hamilton, thanks mostly to catching 11 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown in the Labour Day triumph.
Carroll earned the defensive honor after returning an interception 37 yards for a touchdown during Toronto's 22-point fourth-quarter comeback.
Hamilton's Chris Williams claimed the special teams award for the third straight week after returning five punts for 158 yards with a score. The touchdown made Williams the first player in CFL history with six kick returns for scores in a single season.
Calgary running back Jon Cornish was selected as the top Canadian for the second consecutive week. He ran for 71 yards on 13 carries and caught four passes for 23 yards with a touchdown in a 31-30 win over Edmonton.
