Stamps extend Nik Lewis' contract

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - The Calgary Stampeders signed receiver Nik Lewis to a contract extension on Friday.

Lewis leads the league in receptions (43), receiving yards (484) and touchdowns (seven) through six games this season, his ninth with the Stampeders.

"This deal will give Nik the opportunity to play out his career as a member of the Red and White," said Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "There isn't a lot that needs to be said about the importance of Nik to this football team. He is off to a great start in 2012 and we look forward to even more great football from Nik Lewis."

The 30-year-old Texas native ranks second in team history in receptions (680) and yards (9,716) while his 59 touchdowns places him third all-time.
