Als' Trestman selected as CFL's top coach

Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman has been selected as the Canadian Football League's coach of the year for the 2009 season.

In his second year at the helm with Montreal, Trestman led the Alouettes to a franchise-best 15-3 record and their first Grey Cup title since 2002 with a 28-27 victory over Saskatchewan.

The native of Minnesota has led the Als to a 26-10 mark over the last two seasons, with two straight East Division crowns and back-to-back Grey Cup appearances.

Saskie head coach Red Miller and Hamilton head coach Marcel Bellefeuille were also nominated for the honor.
