Blue Bombers sign three more Canadians
WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed three more Canadians including fourth-round draft pick Rene Stephan.
Rob Jubenville is a defensive lineman out of Saint Mary's, Jean-Sebastien Laberge is an offensive lineman out of Sherbrooke, and Stephan, a linebacker out of Harding University, was the 23rd pick overall in this year's CFL draft.
Jubenville, six foot two and 255 pounds, was a second-team all-Canadian and led Canadian Interuniversity Sports in sacks last season with 10, plus 43 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles.
Laberge, 6-4 and 295 pounds, brings to an even dozen the number of offensive line prospects reporting to camp this season. Largely counted on to pass protect, he helped the Sherbrooke offence average a ninth-best 268.4 passing yards per game.
Stephan, 6-1 and 225 pounds, attended Harding after transferring from De Anza Junior College in 2009. He had 145 tackles between the two schools, 4.5 sacks and nine tackles for a loss. At De Anza he was a first team all-conference linebacker.
