Stampeders re-sign LB Calixte

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - The Calgary Stampeders re-signed their longest-serving player, nine-year non-import veteran linebacker Marc Calixte, on Monday.

Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not released,

"I'm proud to have been a member of the Stampeders for my entire CFL career," said Calixte. "I'm looking forward to my 10th season in Calgary and another opportunity to return to the Grey Cup game."

Calixte and the Stampeders won a Grey Cup in 2008.

"We don't ever underestimate the importance and value of strength on special teams," said Stamps head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "Marc is as effective a special-teams player as you can find in the CFL and it's great that he will be back for a 10th season."

Calixte, selected in the first round (seventh overall) by the Stampeders in the 2003 CFL Canadian Draft, played three seasons at the University of Tennessee-Martin.
