Winnipeg president and CEO Bauer resigns

Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced on Thursday that president and CEO Lyle Bauer has resigned after ten seasons with the club.

Bauer took over the franchise in 2000 and since then the club had a record of 90-88-2 and made the postseason seven times, which included Grey Cup victories in 2001 and 2007.

When he took over as president and CEO, the team was more than $5 million in debt, but is now in the black financially.

"I am very appreciative of the time I have been able to spend with this organization and extremely proud of the progress which has been made since the turn of the millennium", Bauer said.

Jim Bell, vice president of finance and administration for the Bombers will be the interim president as the board conducts a search for a new president and CEO.
