Reid headlines CFL Players of the Month

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Winnipeg running back Fred Reid, Saskatchewan defensive end Stevie Baggs, Toronto punter/kicker Justin Medlock and Montreal safety Matthieu Proulx were named the CFL Players of the Month for August.

Reid nabbed offensive honors as he totaled 476 yards on 53 carries with four touchdowns. On August 21 in a 37-10 win over British Columbia, he set a Blue Bombers record with 260 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns. He currently leads the CFL in combined yards with 1,390.

Baggs was given the defensive award as he totaled 13 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble. In a 34-25 loss to Montreal on August 21, he had 10 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Medlock got special teams honors as he went 9-for-9 on field goals, 3-for-3 on convert attempts and totaled 1,053 yards on 26 punts and 933 yards on 16 kickoffs.

Proulx was named the Canadian Player of the Month as he totaled seven tackles, five special team tackles, four interceptions and one fumble recovery to help the Alouettes to a 3-0 record in August.
