Number One With A Mullet: Fabulously Awful Haircuts from Sports History
Few hairstyles of the last forty years have made as lasting an impression on the world as the mullet. And sports has been no less affected than other areas of the broader culture, as we see here in this look back at some of the greatest athlete mullets in history.

1.Andre Agassi
Tennis – 1986 - 2006
Andre Agassi claimed in his autobiography that this mullet was, in fact, a wig. This begs the question, why did you choose a mullet wig Andre?

2. Jaromir Jagr
Hockey – 1988 - Present
Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers (NHL)
Avangard Omsk (KHL)
Jaromir Jagr set plenty of hockey records during his career, including Best Hockey Mullet Ever which doubles as a neck warmer for early morning practices.

3. Don Majkowski
Football – 1987 – 1996
Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions
Packers’ great Don Majkowski went with this short, dirty-blond mullet during his playing career.

4. Dennis Eckersley
Baseball – 1975 – 1998
Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Oakland A’s, St. Louis Cardinals
Baseball Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley inspired fear in opposing batters with a wicked arm and an even wickeder mullet/mustache combo.

5. John Kruk
Baseball – 1986 – 1995
San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox
Not even this awful mullet could stop John Kruk from racking up 100 home runs during his MLB career. Maybe the power was in the mullet.

6. Dwayne Schintzius
Basketball – 1990 – 1999
San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings, New Jersey Nets, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics
Mullets in basketball are significantly rarer than in other professional sports, which makes Dwayne Schintzius’ even more special. All business in the front, and a party in the back.

7. Brian Bosworth
Football – 1987 – 1989
Seattle Seahawks
It’s difficult to argue that Brian Bosworth wasn’t a huge flop in the pros, but it’s also impossible to say that his hair didn’t lead the way for mullet rights in the NFL.

8. Tony Meola
Soccer – USMNT, Buffalo Blizzard, Long Island Rough Riders, NY/NJ MetroStars, Kansas City Wizards, New York Red Bulls, New Jersey Ironmen
Goalkeeper Tony Meola brought the mullet overseas in two World Cup appearances with the U.S. National Team, inspiring the next generation for soccer mullets.

9. Dan McGwire
Football – 1991 – 1995
Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins
Dan McGwire only played five years in the NFL, but made each one count with a consistently impressive mullet.

10. Warwick Capper

An amazing name, an amazing hairstyle: Australian Rules Footballer Warwick Capper has lived an eccentric life to say the least, and his glorious Mullet has followed suit.

11. Peter Daicos

Collingwood Football Club
Another Aussie mullet-man, Peter Daicos rode the mullet all the way to the Australian Football League hall of fame.

12. Shawn Lalonde
Hockey – 2008 – Present
Belleville Bulls, Rockford Ice Hogs, Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks’ Shawn Lalonde had a lot to learn when he came into the league in 2008. Specifically, that mullets died in the 80s.

13. Randy Johnson
Baseball – 1988 – 2009
Montreal Expos, Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants
Six-foot-ten Randy Johnson was the picture of intimidation when he took the mound with this stylish ‘do. Take note of this picture because it is a rare waltzing Mullet.

14. Paul Mariner
Soccer – 1973 – 1993
Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town, Arsenal, Portsmouth, Albany Capitals, Naxxar Lions, San Francisco Bay
Former England striker Paul Mariner took to the pitch in 1980 with this brave hairdo. This well-tended Mullet was the envy of soccer mullets everywhere.

15. Chris Waddle
Soccer - 1980 – 2002
Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Marseille, Sheffield Wednesday, Falkirk, Bradford City, Sunderland, Burnley, Torquay United, Worksop Town
Another English football player who kept it short in the front and long in the back, Chris Waddle always seemed comfortable with his sense of style.

16. Peter Tsekinis
Soccer – 1996
Australia (various clubs)
It looks like it wasn’t just Australia's Aussie Rules players who were guilty of too much mullet. Peter Tsekinis, now a professional soccer coach, wore this fabulous mullet in youth competition in the early 90s.

BONUS. Duane Chapman, aka Dog The Bounty Hunter
Bounty Hunting
Bonus – King of All Mullet’s the Bounty Hunter. Note the two-tone coloring and braids which puts this mullet into a class above all others. Truly the Mullet of all Mullets.
