Morning Link Dump - 09/06/10

Obligatory Sports Babe

Saying good morning to us on this beautiful holiday Monday is none other than Jessiqa Pace.

She's a good girl, who loves her mother.  Loves Jesus and (as evidenced by her swimsuit) America too.  While the beautiful Miss Pace may not be related to sports (unless you want to make a tenuous connection between wearing swim wear and sports - See Illustrated, Sports), if you haven't heard that particular Tom Petty song at least a dozen times this weekend, I'm going to go ahead and question your ability to properly celebrate a long weekend in September.

Quote Of The Day

"If you watched that playoff game last year the Vikings need to hit that town like Katrina. I think the Vikings go down there and get it done," says NFL Hall of Famer and Pro Football Weekly analyst Dan Hampton, giving his prediction on the first week tilt between Minnesota and New Orleans.

It doesn't get much more inappropriate than this.  I mean, there's absolutely no way that the Vikings will get anything "done" when they play the Saints during the NFL's opening week.  But you know, best of luck to their 40 year old quarterback who's coming back from ankle surgery.

Ground Control To Reality

I had the pleasure of hearing Bill "Spaceman" Lee speak and do an impromptu Q&A session following a documentary film that featured the former Expos and Red Sox hurler.  While the movie itself was somewhat forgettable, in person, Lee was maybe the most interesting person I've ever seen speak.  My favourite part of his session occurred when someone had a long winded question that was probably meant to show off the asker's knowledge as opposed to having any interest in actually getting an answer.  Following the five minute long question, Lee simply said, "No" and moved on.

Lee entered the record books for more than his witticisms recently when he, more than likely, became the oldest pitcher to ever start and get the win in a Minor League game, going 5 1/3 innings for an independent league team in Massachusetts and holding the opposition to two runs.

But Does He Move Well On The Dance Floor For A Big Man

NESN.com has the story of a Boston couple who had their wedding crashed by none other than Kazaam himself, Shaquile O'Neal. The coolest man in the NBA even showed up to brunch the next morning, after posing for several pictures the night before.

Sources say that crashing the wedding was originally Steve Nash's idea.

Spoilers

If you attach your own homemade spoilers to the back of your car, you may be . . . featured this week at Uncoached.com.

Legendary Shots

Some people might be impressed by these basketball shots by Legendary Shots, but honestly, they have terrible form.  You're supposed to keep your shooting arm straight and point it at the basket. I doubt they'll be able to maintain any level of consistency.
