WHOA: Post-Red Card Insanity
Um... holy shit.
Here's a charming little video that is making a late charge towards the internet infamy it so richly deserves. It seems that a couple weeks back, during a soccer tournament in Karpathos, Greece, a player was given his second yellow after what he thought was a dive by an opponent-- a player who had scored twice already in the game. And so, not to waste a perfectly good red card on what he thought was a dive, he viciously-- there's really no other word for it-- attacked the player, punching him in the head, then delivering a classic De Niro kick to the ribs as he rolled on the ground in apparently distress. Craziness.
"The injured player did not break any ribs," says the YouTube user who posted the video, in a follow-up comment.
"I have talked with Mr. Kirgiako Gaillouraki, the father of the injured player and he informed me that the cat scan showed that his son has a bruised rib and a blood spot, in the location that he was kicked. Kosmas has to wait it out and that there is nothing that the doctors can do. By Christmas time, the pain should go away," he added. "He also informed me that he plans in suing the organizing committee of the Summer Cup 2010."
The clip came my way via Deuce of Davenport.
