Banana Man Silenced
Last weekend we brought you a video of Banana Man, a Miami Heat fan who welcomed a couple of new friends to South Beach.
Today, we learn that the popular dancing Banana, who worked with the Heat to make the hilarious viral video, has been silenced by the organization.
Here is the email exchange between the Miami New Times and a man who dresses up in a Banana suit while wearing sunglasses.
Dear Bananaman --
I quite enjoyed your new video with the Big Three -- how about an interview about the video for our blog at Miami New Times? Shoot me a note back here if you're interested,
Tim
The reply:
Hey Tim,
Hearing any feedback on the video is always great. I appreciate that you enjoyed the video. I would be very interested on doing a piece with you guys. Since I don't talk because of my character, I hope this could be a written piece. Send over any questions you have and I will answer them as soon as possible. Thanks again for the interest! Talk soon.
-Banana Man
After sending the questions, Banana Man responds:
Hey Tim,
Thanks for sending over the questions. Unfortunately, I was unable to get clearance to do the interview. I had to run everything by and was not cleared. Maybe some other time but I truly appreciate the interest. Let's stay in contact! I'm sorry again, I was looking forward to work with you, perhaps it could happen in the future.
All the best,
- Banana Man
What? Really? If there's any organization in sports that could use a little bit of goodwill between itself and fans of its sport, it has to be the Miami Heat, right? You'd think they'd be embracing every single opportunity to promote an actual good news story to the rest of the league.
Unfortunately, the Heat would rather employ the ever so popular Look Like Douches media relations strategy.
Nonetheless, here's Banana Man, one more time.
